☄️Comet 12P Reveals Earth-Like Water — Strongest Clue to Origins of Our Oceans #sciencefather #NASA

In a Nature Astronomy breakthrough (Aug 2025), scientists led by NASA’s Martin Cordiner discovered that Comet 12P/Pons–Brooks contains water with a deuterium-to-hydrogen ratio nearly identical to Earth’s oceans. Using ALMA and NASA’s IRTF, this marks the lowest D/H ever recorded in Halley-type comets — providing the strongest evidence yet that comets may have delivered water vital for Earth’s habitability.
