Astronomers using the James Webb Space Telescope have identified signs of an actively feeding supermassive black hole inside GHZ2, a galaxy seen only 350 million years after the Big Bang. If confirmed, this would be the earliest and most distant supermassive black hole ever detected, challenging existing theories of how galaxies and black holes formed in the young universe.
